About Camp Agape

Healing Hurting Hearts

We are a ministry bringing hope to grieving children and families through in-person programs and our founding Camp in a Box model.

Our mission

A healing place for hurting hearts

Our passion is to provide a healing place for hurting hearts by fostering hope in the grief journey through unconditional love, faith, empathy, compassion, trust, and courage.

For more than 25 years, Camp Agape has served a community of grief across Texas. What began as a single camp has grown into four programs — a bereavement Camp Agape, the after-school Footprints program, a whole-family Family Retreat, and Camp in a Box, which sends our model to organizations in other communities.

Every program is free of judgment and full of the ordinary joys of camp: fishing, climbing, singing, s’mores. Woven through them are art, music, game and play therapy led by trained volunteers, so that a child can do the hard work of grieving while still getting to be a child.
